Blue Bird Vision

Blue Bird is pleased to announce the next generation Propane-Powered Vision, powered by industry leaders Ford Motor Company and ROUSH CleanTech. Built on the acclaimed Blue Bird Vision body and chassis, the next generation Propane-Powered Vision provides schools with increased fuel economy, greater horsepower and torque, and the largest tank available of any propane autogas powered school bus.

The new fuel system and powertrain offers best-in-class serviceability and broader optional equipment choices than previous generations of the bus.

One fuel tank size is available for purchase:

“Greening” Your Fleet

Fueling with propane autogas allows your school to have a measurable positive impact on the environment while gaining recognition throughout your community for good environmental stewardship in the process. And with 90 percent of U.S. propane supplies produced in this country, you’ll be doing your part to help reduce our country’s dependence on imported oil. Read more about Propane Distribution for details.

With thousands of propane refueling stations across the United States, refueling isn’t an issue. The Department of Energy maintains a database of propane fueling stations here. Or you may install on-site fueling at little or no cost, with federal tax incentives in place to help off-set any costs. If you’re interested in obtaining your own refueling infrastructure, please call 800.59.ROUSH or contact us through this website.

Tax Incentives

Federal and state government incentives can help transition away from conventional fuels and encourage the switch to clean burning alternatives. Incentives include tax credits on fuel and partial reimbursement for fueling infrastructure. To find out your specific state and federal tax incentives for your location, click here.

System Overview

Switching to an alternative fuel doesn’t have to mean complexity. While a lot of engineering and development go into the design of the system, the components are all designed to integrate seamlessly with the Blue Bird Vision chassis and new 6.8L V10 powertrain from Ford. The system can be broken down into a few primary assemblies:

Fuel Rail Assembly
  • Fuel Rail
  • Fuel Injectors
  • Injection Pressure / Temperature Sensor
Fuel Line Assembly
  • Fuel Lines
  • Flow Control Solenoid
Fuel Tank Assembly
  • Fuel Tank
  • Fuel Pump
  • Fuel Level Sensor
Recalibration of Ford Powertrain Control System
  • Calibration
  • Wiring Harness
